UNC Italian Food, Culture and Health Info Session
Come out to the info session to learn more about this opportunity.
We invite you to participate in a unique traveling study abroad program, where you will embark on an intercultural journey exploring two vastly different Italian cities, culture, and lifestyle. Tuscania is a charming rural town north of Rome with cultivated fields, spanning orchards, rows of olive trees, lush vineyards and fragrant fields of lavender. The area is renowned for its growing organic farming and eno-gastronomy industry. After spending a week in Tuscania, students will transfer to the bustling cosmopolitan city of Florence. Known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, enjoy the art and architecture of the city while exploring its culinary traditions.
This immersive program offers a captivating exploration of the interplay between Italian culinary traditions, cultural heritage, and the principles of a healthy lifestyle. Students will not only savor the flavors of Italy but also gain profound insights into the relationship between food, culture, and well-being. From the picturesque Italian countryside to the metropolitan streets of Florence, this course combines culinary adventures, historical excursions, and academic insights to provide a holistic understanding of Italy’s rich gastronomic heritage. Participants will learn about the art of Italian cooking, the importance of regional variations, and the Mediterranean diet’s impact on health. By the course’s end, students will be equipped to make informed, health-conscious food choices while appreciating the cultural significance of the Italian table.
This program is open to both undergrads and grad students!
