Race, Waste, and Place

April 22, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Since the birthplace of the environmental justice movement in Warren County, North Carolina has positioned itself as a champion for environmental rights. However, we still see glaring examples of environmental malpractice disproportionately affecting low income communities in North Carolina, specifically communities of color. Join us for a panel discussion on the connection between your waste and environmental justice in our own backyard. Panelists include Orange County Solid Waste Planner Blair Pollock, post doctoral graduate fellow Danielle Purifoy, and Minister Robert Campbell of Rogers Road Church. There will be a short reception following the discussion.

This event is sponsored by the UNC Environmental Affairs Committee.
