November 1, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Dr. Marquita Lewis-Thames, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University. In her talk, Dr. Lewis-Thames will define equity and its relationship to disparities, community engagement, and belongingness. She will frame the disparities rural cancer survivors face, the challenges associated with accessing adequate health services to support long-term survivorship care, and how they are the consequences of structural inequities. Her talk will also detail how Dr. Lewis- Thames has leveraged the voices of rural community members and their allies to advance equity and research capacity through digital and community health navigation.
