Tilson receives award for outstanding contribution to pharmaceutical medicine and clinical research

PHILADELPHIA – Hugh H. Tilson, M.D., Dr.P.H., clinical professor in UNC’s School of Public Health, received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his efforts and dedication to the areas of pharmaceutical medicine and outcomes research. The award, the highest honor given to individuals by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators, recognizes scientists and health care leaders who have had a significant impact on pharmaceutical medicine and clinical research. The academy recognized Tilson at its annual conference November 4. A clinical professor of epidemiology and health policy, Tilson’s career spans more than 40 years in preventative medicine and academia. Tilson advises government and industry leaders, including the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, on topics such as health outcomes, drug safety, and public health preparedness.
