Orientation is an exciting and important start to your experience as a student at Gillings. All new students are expected to attend and actively participate in all sessions. Please note that these are the only times during which orientation sessions will occur, and you are highly encouraged to attend all in-person/online synchronous sessions.

Please note that you will receive a specific agenda directly from your department/concentration with all of your other degree or concentration-specific orientation events.

Gillings Building Community: Meet and Greet for New Students of Color

Do you identify as a student of color and are new to the Gillings School of Global Public Health? If so, please stop by for a “cool treat” at this year’s Meet and Greet Welcome Event as a part of the Gillings orientation. We invite you to engage with student leaders from the Minority Student Caucus, other Gillings students, staff, faculty and administrators of color. We are all committed to making sure you feel connected and supported. Registration required.

University International Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation (Hosted by UNC ISSS)

All international students are required to attend International Student Orientation. This session is mandatory for all F-1 and J-1 students and will cover crucial immigration information and campus resources for new international students. (Note that International Student Orientation is separate from other orientation sessions you may be required to attend.) Please use the registration link below to register. You will need to register using your UNC email account.

University Day

University Day is an occasion to remember the University’s past and celebrate its future. The date, October 12, marks the laying of the cornerstone of Old East, the institution’s first building and the oldest state university building in the nation.
