This welcome event brings together entering students from a wide range of disciplines to connect with each other and to hear current graduate perspectives on key topics like, communities of support, health and wellness, academic success and professional development, resilience and resources.

Gillings Welcome: Building Community

This cookout connects Gillings School students from various groups (e.g., students of color, international students, transfer students LGBTQ students, students with families or students who have been out of school for more than 10 years) to each other in order to introduce new connections and build community! Attendees will also be welcomed by Gillings School faculty, staff and others from the School’s leadership team.

Gillings Welcome and Orientation for New Residential MPH Students

At orientation you will receive information on academic advising and faculty mentoring, course registration, MPH Core courses, practicum requirements, UNC policies, career and global resources, your concentration and your culminating experience. Be sure to join us for a great fun filled start to your MPH! Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

OISSS International Graduate Student Orientation

All international students are required to attend International Student Orientation. This program is specially designed to assist new and transfer international students to succeed at UNC-CH and is mandatory for all F-1 and J-1 students.

Every year, the Gillings School of Global Public Health hosts a Student Organizations and Activities Fair for UNC offices and organizations from around campus to meet Gillings students and inform them about available services and activities they will be able to participate in throughout the school year.

University Day

University Day is an occasion to remember the University’s past and celebrate its future. The date, October 12, marks the laying of the cornerstone of Old East, the institution’s first building and the oldest state university building in the nation.
