January 31, 2018
Barry M. Popkin, PhD, W.R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of nutrition at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, has been invited by the American Heart Association (AHA) Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Council to present the David Kritchevsky Memorial Lecture on March 22.
Popkin will give the lecture during the Epidemiology and Prevention – Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health 2018 Scientific Sessions meeting, to be held March 20-23 in New Orleans.
“This is another in a long line of recognitions, rightfully deserved, for Dr. Popkin,” said Gillings School Dean Barbara K. Rimer, DrPH. “His many contributions make him an exemplar of real-time global impact in public health.”
The AHA lecture was established to memorialize Kritchevsky, a world-renowned scientist who made fundamental contributions to knowledge about diet and its impact on atherosclerosis.
