Jeffrey Simms joins NCHL Board of Directors
February 9, 2023
Jeffrey Simms, MSPH, is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health — and he’s a new member of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership’s Board of Directors.
On January 26, the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) announced the addition of three new board members, also naming Maxine Carrington, JD, senior vice president and chief people officer at Northwell Health, and Farheen Dam, the North America health solutions leader at Aon.
“I am thrilled to welcome these extraordinary leaders, each of whom brings the experience and expertise to assist us in advancing leadership and organizational excellence,” shared NCHL Board Chair Jill Schwieters, MS. “In light of the leadership and workforce shortages that our industry continues to face, it is more important than ever to build diverse, inclusive and collaborative relationships — in the United States and abroad — as we work together to solve these significant challenges.”
Simms, who is also the director of student life and alumni relations for his department, has been in his role with the Gillings School for 14 years; he also served as the School’s interim associate dean for inclusive excellence. Previously, he held a senior leadership role with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for ten years as the assistant director of the N.C. Medicaid Program and deputy director of the N.C. Office of Rural Health.
“Over the years, I’ve been involved with an academic program that has benefited tremendously from NCHL’s great work,” Simms said. “The opportunity to serve on the board to assist the organization in continuing to be a major thought leader in the health care management and leadership space is deeply important to me.”
