Holliday named Outstanding Dietetics Educator

Amanda Holliday, MS, assistant professor of nutrition at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, has won the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award.

Holliday will be recognized at the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors’ spring meeting, to be held April 4-5, in Annapolis, Md.
The Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award recognizes the teaching, mentoring and leadership activities of faculty members and preceptors in dietetics education programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.
“Amanda is truly a fabulous educator,” said Elizabeth Mayer-Davis, PhD, Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor of Nutrition and Medicine and chair of the Gillings School’s Department of Nutrition. “She has won many teaching innovation awards at the Gillings School over the years, and her dedication is unparalleled.”
Holliday has a special place in the field of nutrition and dietetics, according to Mayer-Davis.
“Amanda has pioneered new approaches,” Mayer-Davis said, “including advancing our Master of Public Health/Registered Dietitian [MPH/RD] program to be the first in the country to implement the ‘Future Education Model’ as the new direction for training of dietitians. Our national stature in RD training is the result of Amanda’s vision and tenacity, for which I am both proud and tremendously grateful.”
