Herzog, former HPM faculty member, dies at 84

William Herzog, MSPH, professor emeritus of health policy and management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, died Jan. 30 at Carol Woods Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was 84.
During the 1970s, Herzog directed the off-campus Master of Public Health program in what was then the School’s Department of Health Administration. In 1987, he received the McGavran Award for Teaching Excellence.
Among his publications is one co-written with another former health policy and management faculty member, Allan Steckler, DrPH, titled “How to keep your mandated citizen board out of your hair and off your back: A guide for executive directors” and published in a 1979 issue of the American Journal of Public Health.
No plans for a memorial service are known at this time.
