Four UNC Gillings School researchers are among the world's highly cited

Four faculty members from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health have been named to Clarivate Analytics’ 2017 Highly Cited Researchers list, which recognizes researchers from around the world who published the most widely cited papers in their field. The faculty are:
- Ralph Baric, PhD, professor of epidemiology
- Noel Brewer, PhD, professor of health behavior
- Hans Paerl, PhD, professor of environmental sciences and engineering; W.R. Kenan Distinguished Professor of marine sciences
- Barry Popkin, PhD, W.R. Kenan Distinguished Professor of nutrition
Clarivate Analytics’ 2017 Highly Cited Researchers list the research authors whose work, published between 2005-2015, has significantly influenced others in their field. The 2017 list names approximately 3,400 scientists in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences whose studies were among the top one percent most referenced from their field.
