Bentley is the Carla Smith Chamblee Distinguished Professor of Global Nutrition at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. She also is associate dean of global health for the School and associate director of the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases at UNC.

Since April 2014, Bentley has served on CUGH’s Board of Directors. As a new member of the Board’s executive committee (effective April 2015), she will join CUGH leadership in shaping the organization’s programs, policies and strategies for growth and sustainability.

“I am honored to have been elected to this position and look forward to contributing to the success of the consortium and its activities related to innovation, education, research and advocacy,” Bentley said. “Global health is a field that brings together many disciplines and approaches to improve the health of the planet and people. It is an exciting time to make a difference and to nurture the pipeline of emerging global health professionals through the work of CUGH and all its members.”

The mission of CUGH includes coordinating projects and initiatives between resource-rich universities and less-developed nations and their institutions. Through her work at the Gillings School, Bentley has long pursued the goal of creating balance and equal partnership in the exchange of students and faculty between global institutions.
