Agans and Fines awarded research funding from NC TraCS

Two Gillings School of Global Public Health biostatistics faculty members are among those who received funding awards from the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute in August.

Jason Fine, ScD, professor of biostatistics at the Gillings School and of statistics and operations research in the College of Arts and Sciences, was funded for his work, “Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement for Spanish-speaking Immigrant Families in Primary Care: Cultural Adaptation and Pilot.”
Robert Agans, PhD, associate professor of biostatistics and co-director of the Carolina Survey Research Laboratory, received funding for his project, “Supplementing RDD Telephone Surveys with RDS to Oversample Gender Minorities: A New RDD+RDS Approach.”
“We are pleased that these two interesting projects have been recognized for funding,” said Michael R. Kosorok, PhD, W.R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor and chair of biostatistics.
NC TraCS, funded by an award from the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, aims to accelerate clinical and translational research from health science, to discovery, to dissemination to patients and communities.
Fine and Agans were among 11 chosen for funding out of 40 applications.
