Dr. Pocahontas Jones stepped into the role as the new Dean of Curriculum Programs and Chief Academic Officer (CAO) at Roanoke-Chowan Community College on February 1, 2010. Jones brings a wealth of experience to the position after having worked as the Dean of Curriculum Programs at Halifax Community College for a number of years.Jones states that her professional objective is working to empower the faculty, assisting students in service and academics and serving the community for the common good of the college and its community.

When asked how she felt about becoming the new Dean of Curriculum Programs at R-CCC Jones responded, “I am very thankful and excited to be selected and to have the opportunity to advance my career into a new area of leadership. I have been greeted with a very warm and kind spirit here at R-CCC. I endeavor to work with the college to make R-CCC the best that is can be. Again, I am very thankful I was selected by the R-CCC college family to serve as its Dean of Curriculum Programs.”
Jones holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from North Carolina Central University. She obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Public Health, Parasitology and Laboratory Practice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
