Philip C. Singer, Okun Distinguished Professor, has been awarded Kenan Leave for the period of July to December 2006. He will spend the semester in Australia, interacting with colleagues at the University of New South Wales (Sydney), the University of Melbourne, Curtin University (Perth), the Australian Water Quality Centre in Adelaide, and Orica WaterCare in Melbourne on matters of working on the removal of natural organic material from drinking water and associated disinfection by-products using advanced technologies. Professor Singer is known world wide for his expertise in this area.
