Is vaccination for the human papillomavirus a good idea? Dr. Noel Brewer, assistant professor in UNC’s School of Public Health, will provide an update during the Current Science Forum for November at UNC’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. Dr. Brewer is an expert in risk perception and medical decision making. He will share information about the controversial new HPV vaccine. A new state law requires North Carolina school systems to inform parents about this vaccine. The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center’s monthly Current Science Forums include informal discussions, following the expert presentation, in a “coffeehouse” atmosphere (coffee and cookies are provided). Current Science Forums are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.moreheadplanetarium.org or call (919) 962-1236. # # # School of Public Health contact: Ramona DuBose, director of communications, (919) 966-7467 or ramona_dubose@unc.edu. |
