Stephen Orton, PhD

About

Steve is an educator, working primarily with leaders and managers in public health organizations to develop skills and lead organizational change. He is lead author of Public Health Business Planning: A Practical Guide (2008) and has contributed to a number of collaborative workforce development projects at the school since 1994, including the Executive Program for Developing Countries; the Management Academy for Public Health; Preventing Violence through Education, Networking and Training (PREVENT); the National Public Health Leadership Institute; the Caribbean Health Leadership Institute; Leadership Novant; and the National MCH Workforce Development Center.

What he learns doing leadership work nationally, Steve brings home to North Carolina. He teaches in the undergraduate degree program in Health Policy and Management, and he can often be found teaching or facilitating at AHEC-sponsored sessions for local public health groups across the state.
