Gillings Alumna Renee Kleris Publishes Book to Explain COVID-19 Pandemic to Children Ages 3–8
Public Health Leadership Program alumna Renee Kleris published children’s book We Stand Together, Just Six Feet Apart in late September. Written by Kleris and other physicians who specialize in pediatrics and immunology, the book aims to educate children around the ages of 3-8 about the COVID-19 pandemic and how to stay safe. Kleris hopes that the book will contribute to ongoing conversations about the virus especially as many children return to school in-person. The story highlights the things children can still do with friends and family as well as ways that the world can come together to support one another during these challenging times. The book is available in hardcover and softcover. All proceeds will be donated to No Kid Hungry, an organization providing food to vulnerable children and teaching families to cook healthy, affordable meals.
