NC Local Public Health Workforce Assessment

Local health departments play a critical role in ensuring overall community health. Whether investigating disease outbreaks, inspecting water and waste systems or providing clinical services to populations in need, public health professionals tackle challenging issues so that all people in their communities have the opportunity to lead healthy lives.

NCIPH worked with partners to develop Driving the Future: Assessment of the North Carolina Local Public Health Workforce, a statewide training needs assessment of the local-level public health workforce, to help identify current and future critical training needs for professionals across North Carolina local health departments. We have also developed a number of supplemental surveys and reports dedicated to specific subsets of the public health workforce.

It is our hope that Driving the Future will serve as a reference point for strategic collaboration to respond to North Carolina’s evolving public health needs.
