RETCC sponsored a workshop for SRP trainees on self-compassion, managing stress, habit formation, and resources. The workshop was co-led by UNC PhD candidate Danielle Williams, founder of Infinite Gratitude, LLC and Zoe Silverman, a Counseling and Psychological Services Counselor from the UNC School of Medicine. This workshop introduced tools that trainees can use to manage stress associated with PhD training and medical school.

“Trainees were under a lot of stress last year, coming out of the pandemic, but I have seen a movement among them to set better boundaries” noted RETCC co-lead Meghan Rebuli, who supported this event. Trainees who attended the workshop thought that the strategies introduced to them will be useful in their daily lives moving forward.

“Mental Health has always been a concern for trainees in the academic space. Our workshops give students a place to learn and implement practical strategies that are proven to alleviate stress and empower them to focus on the things they can control,” noted Williams.
