The $50 million Gillings Gift, announced in 2007, allows the School to make targeted investments in cutting-edge public health projects. By focusing on solving big problems, committing to high standards, and being willing to assume more risk than many traditional funders do, we have unleashed groundbreaking work by the School’s faculty, students and staff. The Gift has been invested in these overarching areas:  Gillings Innovation Labs, Gillings Experts in Residence, Gilling Merit Scholars, and Strategic Investments. As of fiscal year 2019, Gillings Innovation Labs alone have led to more than $91.5 million in additional research funding.
