  • This demo video shows how to do Canvas course import to get the contents from a previous semester’s Canvas course into a new one for reuse.

How To Cross-list Multiple Sections Into a Single Canvas Site (5:09 min)

  • This demo video shows how to cross-list multiple sections of students into a single Canvas site so all students can be taught together. In Canvas, separate sites will be created for each separate enrollment section.

Managing Student Access to Your Canvas Site (6:13 min)

  • This demo video explains how to manage access to your Canvas site, including publishing, understanding how default term dates and restrictions affect student access, and using custom course start and end dates for more flexibility.
    NOTE: Campus has changed default term start dates for Canvas sites to start well ahead of the beginning of the semester. So the issues described in the video around managing start dates have largely been resolved.

  • This demo video shows how to add new users to your Canvas site, focusing on avoiding a UNC email address mismatch that will prevent the user from being added correctly and showing alternate ways to add users that work more issue-free, including adding with an Onyen or PID.   • This demo video explains what the Canvas grade posting policy is, how it works in Speedgrader and the Grades tool, and how to change it. Also shows how to change the posting policy for an individual assignment.

How to Manage Grading Schemes in your Canvas Site (7:31 min)

  • This demo video shows how to tell which grading scheme your Canvas site is using and how to switch to the correct grading scheme, including a standard undergraduate A – F scheme or either of two graduate level H-P-L ones, with a different lower H cut off of either 94 or 93%.

How To Give Extra Credit in a Canvas Site (16:33 min)

  • This video shows the four ways of giving extra credit in Canvas: adding extra points to an existing assignment; creating a standalone extra credit assignment worth 0 points; creating a 0 point extra credit question in a quiz; and creating a separate extra credit assignment group to bring your assignment group weighting to more than 100%.
