Bio: I am an MD-PhD student who began the HPM doctoral program in 2022 after completing two years of medical school. My interests are in patient-provider communication, online health information, sexual and reproductive health, ethics, and equity. I received my B.S. from North Carolina State University in 2018, and then worked in the Biomedical Ethics Research Program at Mayo Clinic for two years. My research prior to UNC focused on the ethics of unproven therapies, misinformation, and patient perceptions related to digital health advances. Since joining UNC’s MD-PhD program in 2020, I have worked on projects related to health equity and systems thinking within and outside of the department. I plan to focus my dissertation on improving communication about digital health information during adolescent contraceptive counseling, and I anticipate pursuing a career in adolescent-focused primary care.
