Best of luck on your exams and final projects!

Top activities
for winter break

Consider these ideas for supporting your career and professional development plans over your break.

  • Update your resume or CV with accomplishments from this last semester (or year).  Quantify your experiences and use action and results-oriented language.
  •  Fine tune your interests.  Employers are seeking focused candidates – being able to clearly communicate your interests will help you find opportunities that match your goals.
  • Log in to Careerolina, UNC's online database of jobs and internships.  Update your profile and begin your search for that perfect opportunity – there are currently 211active listings for UNC SPH students!
  • Develop cover letter drafts. Get these ready to go so you can apply to opportunities as they arise.
  • Practice your “elevator speech.”  This is a 20 to 30-second introduction of your interests and skills that you can use with networking contacts.
  • Create a profile on LinkedIn.  Explore this professional networking resource to make connections with other Gillings students and alumni.
  • Make a time management plan to continue your career development next semester.  Plan to do one thing each week.

But most importantly…

Have a safe, relaxing, and productive break and a happy holiday season!
