Mara Buchbinder, PhD, is professor and vice chair of the Department of Social Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is a medical anthropologist and the Principal Investigator of the Study to Examine Physicians’ Pandemic Stress (STEPPS), a NIOSH and Greenwall Foundation-funded study of occupational stress and well-being among frontline physicians caring for hospitalized COVID-19 patients in 4 US cities.
