Locating Decolonization in Anti-Racism Spaces: A New DEI Frontier in Public Health

Join the Gillings School’s inclusive excellence and global health units for the inaugural session of the Intersection of Global Health and Inclusive Excellence Seminar Series featuring, Collins O. Airhihenbuwa, PhD, MPH, professor of health policy and behavioral sciences at Georgia State School of Public Health, and founder and CEO of U-RISE, LLC. Dr. Airhihenbuwa is a global expert on health behavior and a pioneer in centralizing culture in health behaviors.

We often talk about decolonizing as it applies to our public health work outside of the United States and equity with regard to our public health work in the U.S. These two concepts are closely tied to the idea of white supremacy and racism. Dr. Airhihenbuwa will reflect on what we can learn from the antiracism movement in the U.S. in its application to efforts to decolonize global health.
