Global Health Research Experts Panel and Workshop

Join The Graduate School’s Leadership Development Scholars Program for their Global Health Research Experts Panel, featuring:

Dr. Suzanne Maman: Professor in the Department of Health Behavior, Associate dean for Global Health at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. Maman has over 20 years of experience in HIV and violence prevention research in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Fan Yang: Assistant Professor in Peking University, China. Before joining Peking University, Dr. Yang worked at the UNC Project-China as a postdoc fellow after receiving her PhD from Johns Hopkins University. She has extensive research experience in HIV prevention and sexual health studies in Asian communities.
Dr. Laura Villa-Torres: Inclusive Science Program Manager at NC TraCS Institute, UNC School of Medicine. Dr. Villa-Torres focuses her research on immigrant community health and sustainable community-based interventions

Session 1: Expert Panel Discussion
Time: Friday, May 28th, 9:00-10:30 AM
Three global health research experts will give a talk and answer your commonly-asked questions on global health research.
Session 2: Hands-on case practice workshop
Time: Friday, June 4th, 9:00-10:30 AM
Students will work in groups to discuss real-life scenarios related to global health research. There will be small prizes for all groups that participate.
