Frances Graham: Candidate Talk on Inclusive Excellence

Frances Graham, PhD, candidate for the position of assistant dean for inclusive excellence, will share her “Vision for Inclusive Excellence at UNC Gillings.” The entire Gillings School community is invited to participate in the candidate presentations.

Over the span of 28 years in higher education, Dr. Frances Graham has served at North Carolina State University (NCSU), North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

At NCSU, Dr. Graham served in the roles of director of the African-American Cultural Center, director of the Women’s Center and associate vice provost for Gender Affairs. At NCCU, she also served as an associate vice chancellor for both Student Affairs and Academic Affairs as well as interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs. At UIUC, she served as a residence director in University Housing and as the specialist in education in the Counseling Center. In addition to these administrative roles in higher education, Dr. Graham has taught black feminist theory, African-American literature and women’s history at Duke University, NCSU, UIUC and Parkland Community College.

Dr. Graham currently serves on the advisory board for BRIDGES, an academic leadership program for women in higher education, is a mentor for NUFP and 360 Conversations for NASPA, and is the fundraising chair of the Ivy Hill Foundation in Chapel Hill. She served a three-year term on the National Women’s Studies Journal advisory board. Her most recent publication appears in The Challenge of Coeducation: Women’s Colleges since the 1960s.
