Department of Biostatistics’ 70th Anniversary (BIOS 70)

We’re celebrating 70 years! Join alumni, friends, faculty and current students as we reflect on past achievements and current research endeavors.
F. DuBois Bowman, PhD 2000 biostatistics, dean and professor at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, will provide the keynote luncheon on Monday, Oct. 28. Bowman is a distinguished researcher whose scholarship focuses on improving mental health and neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and depression.
Dennis Gillings, PhD, CBE, former professor of biostatistics at UNC, will provide remarks during the keynote dinner on Monday, Oct. 28. Gillings is the founder and former chairman of Quintiles, a clinical research company which merged with IMS Health to become IQVIA.
The two-day conference will feature faculty, alumni and student speakers. Session topics include Machine Learning, Causal Inference, Clinical Trials and Statistical Genetics.
The celebration will also include a student poster session showcasing our students’ cutting-edge research, tours of the Gillings School and an alumni panel.
