Eliminating MCH Health Disparities
Dr. Diane Rowley has recently joined the Department and will be working with Dr. Vijaya Hogan to develop new initiatives to move forward in this commitment. Dr. Rowley comes to the Department with a long history of addressing health disparities in MCH – first as a leader of key programs at the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) and most recently as the Director of the Research Center in Health Disparities at Morehouse College.
Dr. Rowley and Dr. Hogan will work together to partner with existing community-based organizations and women in the community to develop a workgroup that will generate a strategy for delivering interconceptional care. The workgroup will combine the results of EDIC with community knowledge of the local health care delivery system and community assets into a model for intervening on the underlying social factors that inhibit participation in interconceptional care. Subsequently, they plan to use community participatory research methods to test the model. |
