CGBI: Breastfeeding Exclusive September 2018- Alumni Spotlight
Taylor A. Livingston graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a PhD in Anthropology in 2017. She completed the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2011. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice at the University of South Florida.
Her research interests include: breastfeeding and lactation, Critical Medical Anthropology, Applied Anthropology and Public Health, health disparities, perinatal health outcomes, anthropology of the US South, and the intersections of race, class, and gender. At USF, Taylor works with Regina Roig-Romero, Past Chair of the International Board of Lactation Examiners, and Dr. Stephanie Marhefka-Day on breastfeeding friendly childcare. Collaboratively, they are working with Daina Huntley at CGBI to identify pathways towards multi-state studies to build the evidence for breastfeeding friendly childcare designation programs.
