Eliana Mundul

Welcome to Eliana Mundul!

Eliana Mundul is a Communications Specialist in the Department of Maternal and Child Health who joined the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute (CGBI) in June 2020.

In her current role, Eliana promotes the activities for the ENRICH Carolinas project and CGBI.  She is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to ensure ENRICH and CGBI activities, results, and resources are clearly disseminated (through website, social media, newsletters, and private project platforms), and stakeholder engagement activities planning and implementation.  In this role, she also offers communications training to CGBI staff and stakeholders.

Eliana graduated from Strayer University in 2016 as a summa cum laude earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with a concentration in Marketing.  Before joining CGBI, Eliana worked for a private company for over a decade starting her career as a Marketing Coordinator and later promoting to Marketing Communications Manager for the Latin America region. In this role, her responsibilities included growing the customer database and the strategic planning of marketing campaigns.  Prior to joining this private company, Eliana worked in the medical field at a private local hospital where she held various roles within the Intake Department including Insurance Verifier and Financial Counselor.  In her last role at the hospital, Eliana was a medical interpreter working side by side with physicians and patients in all hospital departments, including Emergency, Surgery, Labor and Delivery, and Admissions providing verbal and written interpretation. During this role, she also attended Medical Interpreting Training and participated in the North Carolina pilot exam certification for medical interpreters at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).

Eliana’s previous work also includes making contributions to her local community.  She worked part-time for eight years at the local community college as an English as a Second Language Instructor (ESL), teaching English to non-English speaking adults.  Eliana taught all ESL levels, Civics and Citizenship to future U.S. Citizens, and Crossroads Cafe, an interactive ESL distance learning program. One of Eliana’s personal and professional goals is to continue making contributions to the community and touching people’s lives through her work and experience. Working for UNC and CGBI is allowing her to accomplish this goal.
