Breastfeeding Exclusive Spring 2019 - Stella Wouk
Announcing the Birth of Stella Loba Wouk
CGBI postdoctoral researcher Katie Wouk gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Stella Loba Wouk, at 3:18 am on April 13th. Stella splashed into the world at 6 lbs 14 oz. and was caught by her family doc dad, Noah, with incredible support from their midwife Rebeca Moretto and nurse Sarah at the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center. Loba means “she-wolf” in Spanish, named after a special mountain peak in New Mexico–also in the hope of endowing her with enough spirit to thrive alongside her vivacious older sister, Juno. Katie is grateful for all the meals, breast massages, and big sister playdates the community has generously shared during their fourth trimester, and is excited for Stella to meet her extended CGBI family as she transitions back to work. Katie is pictured here with her advisor, Dr. Alison Stube, at this year’s UNC graduation ceremonies. Way to go, mama!
