Alumni Spotlight on Kate Lewandowski, MPH
Kate Lewandowski graduated in spring 2018 with her MPH in Maternal and Child Health. While at UNC, she was also a graduate research assistant for the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute for two years. She was also active with the Carolina BEBES student group throughout her time at UNC, even serving as co-President her second year. Kate’s main interest is the perinatal period for moms and babies, including birth spacing, infant feeding, adverse outcomes, and health equity in access and quality of care.
Recently Kate was hired as a Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist 1 for the Arizona Department of Health Services. She will be working in the Office of Assessment and Evaluation for the Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health, where she will be assisting on a number of projects, including the Title V Block Grant needs assessment, as well as supporting the data and evaluation needs of programs within the Bureau. Originally from Oregon, Kate is enjoying the Phoenix weather (at least until summer…) and exploring all that the Southwest has to offer.
