Alumni Spotlight on Amanda Petry

Amanda Petry is a 2014 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and of the 2016-17 Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative  cohort. After moving to North Carolina, Amanda worked as a DONA trained postpartum doula for two years in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area and as a registered nurse on a medical surgical unit while completing the MRT-TI program at UNC. As a postpartum doula, she had the opportunity to work closely with families for up to three months postpartum. Amanda particularly enjoyed providing support to families with multiples and premature infants.

Amanda was hired as a Lactation Consultant at UNC Medical Center in March 2018. She is working in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing breastfeeding education and support to families in the first days after delivery and beyond. Amanda and her husband Eric have moved four times since coming to North Carolina in 2014 and have most recently settled into their home in Cary, NC with their two dogs, Luna and Rio. Their interests include traveling, hiking, and mountain biking.
