The Center on Financial Risk in Environmental Systems is devoted to interdisciplinary research. Most members have an engineering or environmental science undergraduate degree, and a strong quantitative background (including some programming skills). Graduate students associated with the Center work with their adviser to develop individually tailored courses of study that improve on their traditional engineering and modeling skills, while developing new capabilities in economics, finance and risk management. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Center, please contact Dr. Characklis (charack@email.unc.edu) for more information.
