Emergency-related food and nutrition education highlighted in new study.
Gillings professor Lindsey Haynes-Maslow, PhD, MHA helped author a new study about the importance of food security after a disaster. The Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) emphasizes the need for access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods, alongside emergency-related food and nutrition education, to enhance disaster recovery and resilience. Disasters can strain food system disruptions, impacting food availability, accessibility, and affordability, particularly in low-income and marginalized communities. Read more about it here.
Bios Professor Awarded Grant by Department of Health and Human Services
Bios Professor Bonnie Shook-Sa, DrPh has been awarded by The National Institutes of Health (NIH) a grant of $169,811. The grant was awarded under the title Generalizing Effects of Infectious Disease Prevention Interventions in the Presence of Interference. Congratulations!
