UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics has been ranked 4th highest biostatistics department in the nation and tied for 10th overall among doctoral programs in statistics, according to U.S. News & World Report. The new ranking will appear in the magazine’s May issue, which hits newsstands April 27, and in its guidebook, “America’s Best Graduate Schools.”

U.S. News first ranked graduate programs in 1987 and has done so annually since 1990. Business, education, engineering, law and medicine are ranked annually. Other disciplines and specialties, including schools of public health, are ranked periodically. Those rankings are based only on the ratings of academic experts.
 
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill appears on more than 15 lists of schools, programs and specialty areas newly ranked by the magazine.
