The Department of Biostatistics at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH)

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) degree prepares students to use innovative statistical methods to address public health and medical issues. The BSPH degree from the Department of Biostatistics at the UNC Gillings School provides an excellent foundation for employment at contract research organizations, academic research organizations and nonprofits, as well as continued study, including admission into medical school.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

The redesigned UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program is for people who are passionate about solving urgent local and global public health problems. With a legacy of outstanding education, cutting edge research and globally-recognized leadership, the UNC Gillings School is creating the next generation of public health leaders through our integrated training program and 21st century curriculum. The Department of Biostatistics hosts the Public Health Data Science concentration.

Master of Science (MS)

The Master of Science (MS) degree provides students with research-oriented training in the theory and methodology of biostatistics and its application to solving problems in the health sciences.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The Doctor of Philosophy(PhD) provides advanced, research-oriented training in theory and methodology of biostatistics to prepare individuals for careers in academia, government and industry.
