Welcome to the UNC SPH Biostatistics department mentoring list server!
This email list server is intended to foster and enhance communication between alumni, current students, faculty, and staff of the Biostatistics Department. Alumni relationships are a valuable resource and this list server service will help us develop an even stronger alumni infrastructure in the Biostatistics Department. With this mentoring list server service, all Department alumni, students, faculty, and staff will be able to develop and maintain “mentoring” friendships with and for fellow biostatisticians, provide questions, answers, comments, suggestions to the topics of interest posed on the list server, and develop networking contacts through the alumni who work at specific companies or organizations and/or who work in specific biostatistical industries.
Before subscribing to this mentoring list server service, please take a minute to review the following guidelines.
Who’s Included?
All UNC SPH Department of Biostatistics alumni, all current Biostatistics students, faculty, and staff may subscribe. For additional information or assistance, please contact Melissa Hobgood via email or via voice phone at 919-966-7256.
Guidelines for Use
The BIOSMENTOR listserv is meant for BIOS alumni and students who either would like to serve as a mentor or be mentored. Principally, the listserv should serve as an open forum in which interesting or intriguing questions can be asked and answered. Some appropriate topics upon which to post are:
1. Requests for guidance in one’s career
2. Requests for guidance in difficult research questions
3. Requests for guidance in the practice of statistical consulting – such as in writing a grant proposal, how to find funding, etc.
4. Notices of relevant events that would help recent alumni become better biostatisticians
The listserv is not meant for job or CV postings!
Job postings should be sent to our Registrar, Melissa Hobgood .
CV postings by students should reside at the Students site maintained by our WebMaster .
Subscribers are encouraged to reply directly to the person who posts to the listserv (and not to the listserv).
