B. B. “Bill” Parker dies at 95

B. B. Parker, 95, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his home in Charlotte , NC . Mr. Parker received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering at UNC in 1936. He retired in l978 as president, chief operating officer and member of the board of directors of Duke Power Company after a 42-year career. In Mr. Parker’s honor, Duke Power Company established the B. B. Parker Fellowship in ESE to support outstanding first-year students pursuing graduate study in environmental sciences and engineering through a Parker Fellows program. Mr. Parker was the last surviving major contributor to the ESE Baity Fellowship which was created in 1992 with a gift from the late Stuart Morrison, BS ’33 (Chemistry).
