About

Dr. William “Bill” F. Owen, Jr., M.D., FACP, is a seasoned academic health system leader with executive experience in large public and private, domestic and international systems. In a career of several firsts in diversity, Dr. Owen was Chancellor & Dean of Ross University School of Medicine, Chancellor and Sr. Vice President of Health Affairs of the University of Tennessee, President of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (now merged with Rutgers University), and inaugural CEO of Sidra Medical & Research Center in Qatar. Dr. Owen was the inaugural health policy advisor to the President of the International Association of University Presidents, an NGO with UN advisory status. He is recognized in the Congressional Record for his community engagements and repeatedly cited among African American Leaders in Healthcare by Becker’s Hospital Review. Dr. Owen’s experiences align with nurturing social justice through America’s public health systems and its medical workforce.
