Travis Johnson, MD, MPH
Dr. Travis Johnson is an assistant professor for the PHLP and the Interim Director for the UNC Gillings Masters in Public Health in Asheville. He has 15 years of experience as a family physician, specializing in maternal- child health in rural settings. After living and working in health centers on the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Dr. Johnson joined the faculty of the UNC Rural Family Medicine Residency Program in Hendersonville, NC. He is the Medical Director for the Believe Child Advocacy Center.
His interests include maternal-child health, child nutrition, adverse childhood events, faith in health, cancer wellness, placed-based education, and global health systems.
