About

Tina Ruff is the Director of Academic Assessment and Accreditation with more than 25 years of experience leading organizational and institutional effectiveness efforts in both public health and higher education settings. 

Ruff focuses her expertise on developing data-informed processes designed to improve student experiences and achievement outcomes. 

As a former SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison for three North Carolina community colleges, Ruff was responsible for leading successful accreditation self-studies and implementing strategies that sustained continuous improvement and compliance efforts following the reaccreditation process. 

Ruff's higher education roles include serving as chief of staff, vice president for institutional effectiveness (assessment, evaluation, policy, and strategic planning), and an adjunct instructor. Her public health experience includes service with the American Social Health Association (National Immunization Hotline - Data Analyst), the North Carolina Primary Health Care Association (Childhood Immunization Assessment), and the North Carolina Office of Rural Health and Resource Development (Provider Recruitment and Placement).

Staff/Administrative Duties

The Director champions data-informed continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts. This work includes, but is not limited to, development, analysis and reporting of surveys for students, faculty, staff, alumni and other key stakeholders, as well as helping to coordinate schoolwide evaluation processes and deliverables.

The Director leads evaluation and assessment in the curriculum domain and is a key driver and advocate for curriculum CQI. The Director also leads schoolwide efforts around curriculum assessment, consistent with accreditation processes that help drive student success. The Director works collaboratively and often in a consultation role with chairs, program directors, other key stakeholders. The Director is the main liaison to accreditation agencies and is a leader for our overall schoolwide accreditation effort.
