About Shayna is a first year PhD student, coming from the MSPH-PhD program at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Shayna was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before Gillings, she worked on research projects at UNC Charlotte and Pennsylvania State University, mostly related to risk behavior and substance use (e.g., alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco).

Research Activities

Shayna is currently working in tobacco prevention and control. She is interested in the social and environmental influences of behavior and better understanding the behavior change process. Her other interests include health disparities, substance use behaviors, theoretically-driven prevention programs, and mixed-method research.
