Michelle Abel-Shoup is the Program Manager at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Robert C. Cefalo National Leadership Institute. Her work includes managing all aspects of the program including communications, logistics, operations, finances, and evaluation and reporting. Ms. Abel-Shoup is also the Program Manager for the UNC Clinical Scholars Program, one of 4 national program centers for the Advancing Change Leadership Program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and Whole Community Connection, a leadership program for rural community-academic partners led by UNC Rural and the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice.
Prior to her work at UNC, Ms. Abel-Shoup worked in the hospitality and meeting planning industry and has extensive program management experience with community/non-profit organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and volunteers in many community and civic organizations. Though not clinically trained, Ms. Abel-Shoup has 30 years of lived experience in the Maternal & Child Health field as a mother of three!
