About

Lisa Macon Harrison has been the local health director of the Granville Vance Public Health District in North Carolina since 2012. Her previous roles in NC public health thread through research, practice, quality improvement, as well as workforce and policy development. 

Lisa has been a member of the public health field for over 20 years and has served as director of the Office of Healthy Carolinians and Health Education at the NC Division of Public Health, led the Public Health Incubator Collaboratives Program at the University of North Carolina at UNC Chapel Hill, and directed the Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute (SEPHLI) at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health where she continues to stay connected as adjunct faculty in the Public Health Leadership Program. 

In 2015, Lisa served as the NC Public Health Association president where she continues to stay involved connecting public health research and practice. She was recently invited to be a member of the NC Institute of Medicine for a five-year term beginning in 2019 where she co-chairs a task force on the future of public health. Lisa is currently serving as President of the National Association for County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Board where she advocates for a stronger future and improved support for the public health workforce.
