About

Karissa Grasty leads the Gillings School advancement team as the associate dean for advancement. She works with the dean, colleagues and faculty on ideas for funding. She also serves as the executive director of the Public Health Foundation and is the liaison with the Gillings School Advisory Council.
 
Karissa has more than 20 years’ experience in fundraising, with a diverse background in both higher education and nonprofit organizations. She served as assistant dean for advancement for both The University of Miami’s College of Engineering and its School of Nursing and Health Studies. Before coming to The University of Miami, she served as director of development at The University of California at Los Angeles’ Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (2012-2014) and associate director of development and interim co-executive director at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture (2009-2012). From 2000 to 2009, she was an events specialist and manager of corporate relations at The J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles. At the Getty, she launched the corporate development program and established partnerships with numerous of Fortune 100 companies.
 
She is an alumna of the University of Georgia at Athens, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, public relations and political science, with a minor in business administration.
