I am a health services researcher and Professor of Population Health Sciences, Medicine, Psychiatry, and Nursing at Duke University Medical Center as well as the Associate Chair of Education for the Department of Population Health Sciences. I am also the Associate Director of the Center for Health Service Research in Primary Care Center of Innovation (COIN) at the Durham VAMC. I have been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Administration in the School of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2006.
My research interests comprise three overarching areas of research: 1) clinical research that provides knowledge for improving patients’ treatment adherence and self-management in chronic care; 2) translation research to improve access to quality of care; and 3) eliminate health care disparities. My expertise is in patient-centered, multidisciplinary self-management programs for adults with chronic disease.
