About

Gemma Herrera, MEd, earned her BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in higher education from UNC Greensboro. Before Gilling’s, she served as the Associate Director of the Intercultural Engagement Center (IEC), Latinx Programs Coordinator, and Program Director for GC Rise at Guilford College. She brings 10 years of student recruitment and success experience and is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Leadership in Cultural Foundations at UNC Greensboro. Gemma previously worked at Gilling’s as the Coordinator for Diversity Programs and Recruitment for the Inclusive Excellence unit.

In this role, Gemma will work closely with our admissions team in supporting recruitment efforts by coordinating admissions and orientation events, identifying and developing external community partnerships for pathway programs, and supporting students through the admissions process. Gemma also continues to serve as the staff advisor for the Minority Student Caucus (MSC) at Gillings.
