Emily Benson (she/her) is the Community Data Associate at the North Carolina Institute for Public Health. As part of the Community Assessment and Strategy team, Emily supports the collection, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of data sources across projects.
Prior to joining NCIPH, Emily worked with a non-profit in Carrboro where she supported a mixed methods research project that aimed to identify barriers and facilitators to healthcare services among local refugee and immigrant communities, with a focus on language access. She is passionate about building a community environment where all people have equitable access to community resources, with a particular commitment to food, housing, and healthcare access. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time outdoors, and visiting the North Carolina mountains.
